What is grief tending?

By grief tending I mean simply a space to explore, process and be with grief of any kind. The spaces I offer are often infused with, and based on, ritual and ceremony. Grief comes in lots of flavours - sadness, anger, hurt, numbness and overwhelm are some examples. Grief can come up in response to lots of things and there's no right or wrong - if you feel it, it is there, and it is welcome.

Lineages

I first encountered grief tending in spaces held by Bilal Nasim, Sarah Pletts and Tony Pletts.
I, like those named above, apprenticed with Sophy Banks and Jeremy Thres.
They, in turn, have been taught and inspired by quite a few others, including: Sobunfu Somé, Malidoma Patrice Somé, Francis Weller, Martin Prechtel, and Joanna Macy.

What does it look like?

Group grief tending sessions can take place online or offline and can very in length. A typical online session may be 4 hours (with plenty of breaks!), and in person sessions may be longer (a day or more). If you have an idea you'd like to see happen that's different from those get in touch!
The typical flow of a session might look like: arriving and landing together as a group, exploring what grief is, touching into grief a little bit, before going into ritual space. Afterwards, there's time for soothing and a gentle transition back into the rest of the world.
